This is Elder & Sister Steve Barlow from Bountiful. They are going on a church auditing mission to Frankfurt, Germany. He's dad's cousin.

Dad and I with Elder Steve Barlow in front of our classroom.

Hi everyone! Wow, we had no idea what to expect at the MTC, but it far exceeds what we thought it would be. The joy of feeling the enthusiasm and the spirit of missionary work from all those who are helping us is amazing. One couple got a letter from their grandchild and he said, "Grandma, I heard you were in the "empty sea" and I thought you said you were going to Arizona." ha ha
I can't possibly communicate the intense level of spirituality that exists here, but just let me say that already we are forever changed, and we haven't even arrived in St. Louis yet! The elders who taught us the Preach My Gospel manual were fantastic. One served in Russia and the other in South Carolina and boy, do they know how to motivate! We are anxious to not only do the Welfare Services part of our mission, but actually have opportunities to teach non-members.
There are 20 senior couples here. Some went to Cove Fort but the rest of us are either welfare or humanitarian missionaries. Many are going to serve here in the US, but a few are going to Australia, Amman Jordan, and Turkey. Some are awaiting VISAS, and have already had their mission assignments changed, because their countries are not granting any now.
This coming week will be filled with a trip to Welfare Square and computer training. By Friday, we will be on he road with our maps and arrive in time to start our real job on Monday. So we will be sending picures as we go.
We love and appreciate all of you, especially our dear children and their families. We love you all very much . Hugs to you all. Love Mom and Dad

Wow, you sound so spiritual and fabulous. But that is not so different from when you were here with us. We are Lorraine's tonight with the babies. Cate is getting blessed tomorrow. Love you Mom and Dad. Janna
August 2nd: Dave says, "after reading where some of the other couples have gone you must be HAPPY you are in Missouri--the good old USA! There is no way I would want to go to those foreign countries. We look forward to checking this blog and learning of your experiences, etc. Lorraine and I appreciate your example of service and missionary work."
Love you both, Dave and Lorraine
